Juventus forward Cristiano Ronaldo has said he “hopes to return to Madrid soon” as he received the Marca Leyenda award. The Portuguese superstar spent a decade at Real Madrid, where he won four of his five Ballons d’Or and four Champions Leagues, as well as two La Liga crowns and two Copa del Rey titles, scoring a whopping 450 goals in just 438 games for the club.He moved to Italy with the Bianconeri last summer in search of a new challenge, but he admits that he misses the Spanish capital and felt sad to leave Los Blancos as he received the prestigious Marca Leyenda award in Madrid. Dream night in Genk for Liverpool ace after injury nightmare Messi a man for all Champions League seasons – but will this really be Barcelona’s? “I felt sorry when I left Real Madrid,” Ronaldo said at the awards ceremony.”I miss both [Manchester and Madrid] but because of life’s circumstances I have lived more years in Madrid, my children and my girl were born here, so I miss Madrid more.”This trophy will be in a very nice place in my museum. Madrid is special, I travel a lot but there are few cities like Madrid. Much of this award is derived from what I did in Madrid. It is a Spanish trophy and leaves me very honoured. Thanks to all those who have helped me to achieve it. It is a pride for me. And I hope to return to Madrid soon.”Ronaldo also opened up on his ambitions as a child, the title that he treasures most, and his Champions League hopes for the coming season.”I never thought about [reaching this level]. My dream was always [just] to be a professional player.”All titles are important but possibly [the 2016 European Championship] because it is special. It is not the same, when you win something for your country and you know that it is more difficult, it is the most important thing in my career.”“I don’t know [if I will win the Champions League this year with Juventus]. We will try, as always. Hopefully Juventus wins.”
Harry Maguire has called for Manchester United to turn Old Trafford into a ‘fortress’ this season after thrashing Chelsea 4-0 in their first Premier League game of the 2019-20 season .The England international centre-half joined from Leicester City in a whopping £80 million ($96m) deal – a record-breaking fee for a defender this summer and helped the Red Devils to a clean sheet on his debut.Marcus Rashford won and converted a penalty as Kurt Zouma lunged in clumsily in the first half, before he and Anthony Martial turned a narrow scoreline into a rout within two second-half minutes, before debutant Daniel James rounded off the scoring. Maguire was pleased with his new side’s start to the season but implored his team-mates to build on their strong opening at home and make the most of Old Trafford going forward, following a season in which the Red Devils managed just two clean sheets in front of their own fans.”It is a great start for myself and the team,” Maguire said after the game.“We rode our luck a bit first half but second we were much more ourselves.”It is the first game at Old Trafford, so I think there were nerves. We gave the ball away in dangerous areas. We moved it nicely second half and our front three are so dangerous on the break.”We knew there were only two clean sheets last year here. We need to make it a fortress.”Speaking on a personal note, Maguire was happy with his own performance but insisted that he had more to give.”I felt good. I’ve only had three or four days with the lads. I am going to get fitter and better.”United’s next test is a tough trip to Molineux to face Wolves, while Chelsea have the unenviable task of taking on Liverpool in the UEFA Super Cup before hosting Leicester City in the Premier League.

FSU receiver Tamorrion Terry, otherwise known as ‘Scary Terry’, made a big play in today’s game against Boise State. After taking a screen pass to the house for a 75-yard touchdown, Terry went straight to the sideline. Upon his arrival, the receiver was handed a mask which he proceeded to put on.Apparently, the mask is known as the ‘Scary Terry mask’. India Today Web Desk New DelhiJune 3, 2019UPDATED: June 3, 2019 12:21 IST Ranveer Singh will be seen as Kapil Dev in Kabir Khan’s 83Ranveer Singh is all set to play former captain Kapil Dev in Kabir Khan’s 83, which tells the story of the Indian cricket team’s victory in the World Cup in 1983. The cricketer was known for his signature run-up, which ended with a majestic jump, followed by an outswinger. On the sidelines of India Today’s Salaam Cricket 2019 in London, Ranveer told us that it is “very tough to emulate” Kapil’s signature move. “Mushkil hai. There’s a lot of neck and back in it. His body mechanics are very unique to him. Only his body, the way it is genetically structured, can execute that action. It is very tough to emulate. But I have been at it. I have changed my own body mechanics around to be able to do it,” he said. The actor added that the cricket portions will be shot in August, so he still has time to get the move right. “Sandhu (Balvinder Singh Sandhu) sir is training us and he is saying I am progressing with the bowling. Batting ki report card, I have got a thumbs up. My technique is really good, apparently. Whoever I have shown those videos to, have said, ‘Yeh toh theek hai. You must have played,'” he revealed about his training. While Ranveer has played cricket in school, playing in Lord’s is an altogether different experience. “This is the Mecca of cricket. Lords mein aana matlab yeh hoti hai life. Aap subah utho, Lords aao aur 3-4 ghante batting, bowling aur fielding karo, legends ko milo… Overall, this entire experience has been so rewarding and joyous,” he said.advertisementRanveer said that he was drawn to the “incredible” story of 83. “The kind of underdogs that these guys were, koi believe nahi karta tha ki yeh ladke kuch karenge. And they went and achieved the ultimate glory, beating back-to-back World Cup champions! West Indies was almost invincible then,” he said, adding that the event “changed sports in India forever”.Talking about living with Kapil to prep for 83, Ranveer said, “Main unke ghar gaya Delhi mein. 10 days unke saath raha. Achche se rakha unhone mujhe, he was so warm and welcoming. It was very generous and large-hearted of him to help me in this process.””He coached me in cricket, we would play golf together, have meals together, chat endlessly. Unki videos nikaalta tha main aur phir baad mein unko dekhta tha to try to absorb a little bit of his mannerisms and idiosyncrasies,” he added.83, which also features Saqib Saleem, Harrdy Sandhu and Chirag Patil in pivotal roles, is set to hit the screens on April 10, 2020.ALSO READ | Ranveer Singh takes his 83 team to London as India gears up for ICC World Cup 2019ALSO READ | Ranveer Singh’s 83 will now release in April 2020ALSO WATCH | Ranveer Singh makes Delhi dance to Gully Boy at India Today Conclave 2019Get real-time alerts and all the news on your phone with the all-new India Today app. Download from Post your comment Do You Like This Story? Next Pratik Rakshit New DelhiJune 24, 2019UPDATED: June 24, 2019 17:09 IST The Avan Xero+ comes in two variants, a single battery and a double battery version. (Picture: Nishant Jhamb)HIGHLIGHTSThe styling and design is quite modern with its sharp lines giving the Xero+ an attractive look. The most notable feature is the simple instrument cluster which displays the odometre, speedometer and a battery level indicator. The Xero+ has a high positioned floorboard resulting in the handlebar hitting the knee everytime you want to turn.Using electric vehicles is a growing trend and is here to stay. Avan Motors is one of the several electric vehicle manufacturers that is helping to push this electric trend in the country with the launch of the Xero and Xero+ electric scooters earlier this year, but we have the more premium Xero+ with us. The instrument panel is simple with just odo, speedo and battery level on display. (Picture: Nishant Jhamb)The styling and design is quite modern with its sharp lines giving it an attractive look. Gone are the days when electric scooters were unattractive and unappealing. It has a slim and slender profile when viewed from any angle while the headlamp cluster up front is mounted on the visor unit with fox intake on the front apron makes the Xero+ look good. It sports 5-spoke 12-inch alloy wheels whereas the chrome crash guards run from the front to the rear with a 3-litre capacity luggage box mounted at the rear section for either a full-sized helmet or an additional storage space. We would’ve liked a rubber strap along the edges of the box to cut down on the rattling noise it makes whenever it goes over a bump. The tail lamp and rear indicators have been integrated into one unit and look good too. The most notable feature is the simple instrument cluster which displays the odometre, speedometer and a battery level indicator. Switch to toggle between ride modes. (Picture: Nishant Jhamb)The Avan Xero+ comes in two variants, a single battery and a double battery version. The one we have is the double battery version which comes powered by a detachable 48V battery located below the floorboard, keeping the centre of gravity low for the scooter. The disadvantage we see here is that the battery cradle is at its lowest point and is susceptible to scrapping on large speed bumps. The battery pack is paired to an 800 watt brushless DC motor that powers the rear wheel, however, only one battery can be used at a time which can be toggled between the switches situated in the under seat compartment. When equipped with two batteries, the Xero+ has a combined travel range of 110km, while a single battery covers up to 55-60km depending on riding style. The charge time is about 4-5 hours for a single battery and comes with an onboard charger which can charge the unit without actually removing it. However, the scooter comes with a single charger allowing one battery to be charged at any given point of time. Nevertheless, the batteries are detachable and can be charged remotely as well and is a fairly easy process but does take some effort to do so.advertisement Storage space for a full-faced helmet. (Picture: Nishant Jhamb)The Xero+ has a high positioned floorboard resulting in the handlebar hitting the knee every time you want to turn. However, position yourself comfortably on the seat and you are good to go. Once throttled, the scooter quickly picks up speed but getting to its top speed of 47kmph takes some time. Overtaking is out of the question and it is advisable to stick to the side of the road. The suspension setup of telescopic at the front and coil spring unit at the rear is good enough to make for a comfortable ride to the office. It soaks up the undulations and bumps on the roads quite well. Braking is handled by a disc at the front and drum at the rear but it does lack in power and bite. The three riding modes or gears as Avan Motors calls it, can be toggled by a switch on the right handlebar that ranges from an economical ride to a more performance-based result, for a young rider that is. Once throttled, the scooter quickly picks up speed but getting to its top speed of 47kmph takes some time. (Picture: Nishant Jhamb)VerdictThe electric two-wheeler market is expanding at a rapid pace and Avan Motors is placed at the lower end of this spectrum with increasing sales. At a price of Rs 47,000 (ex-showroom, India) for a single battery and Rs 66,500 (ex-showroom India) for double battery unit, the Xero+ takes the fight directly to Hero Electric’s Optima e-scooter. Avan claims that the running cost is about 85 per cent cheaper than a conventional petrol-powered scooter, but the company needs to step up its game and become a popular brand. With rising fuel cost and the damage done to our environment, it may be a very good idea to go green.advertisementALSO READ | Fourth-generation Mahindra Scorpio spied testingALSO READ | Aston Martin Valhalla, DB5, V8 to feature in upcoming James Bond movieALSO READ | Next-gen Hyundai Xcent spied testing, India launch expected in 2020Get real-time alerts and all the news on your phone with the all-new India Today app. Download from Post your comment Do You Like This Story?
