The hardship when you come to these places is then being effective on the attacking side – how many times can you get that real moment of truth to open them up?”We had a few, but it is difficult. We limited them by their standards.”They are a top side and I think we’ve delivered a performance that has made it very tight, and they have had to work incredibly hard to get something from the game.”

Man Utd make Barcelona approach for Coutinhoby Paul Vegas9 months agoSend to a friendShare the loveManchester United have approached Barcelona about Philippe Coutinho’s situation.Mundo Deportivo says United have made it clear that they would be ‘very interested’ in signing the Brazilian, who has struggled to hit the heights he scaled at Liverpool since moving to the Nou Camp 12 months ago.Coutinho hasn’t started a La Liga game since December 2 and that is said to have angered the Blaugrana’s record signing, who has seen Ousmane Dembele move past him in the pecking order in recent times. It is claimed that Coutinho has no intention of leaving Barcelona yet, especially with his family happy living in Catalonia, but that could change if the 26-year-old’s situation doesn’t improve between now and the end of the season.A move to United would give Coutinho a chance to win his first trophy in English football.
Man City’s 2 goal Gabriel Jesus: Aguero always helping meby Paul Vegas9 months agoSend to a friendShare the loveManchester City attacker Gabriel Jesus was delighted with his brace for their 3-0 win over Wolves. The Brazilian striker is now joint top scorer with Sergio Aguero on 14 goals and after bagging seven goals in his last three game – and Gabriel says his fellow striker has been an inspiration to him.“Sergio is an amazing player and helps me a lot,” he said.“When he plays, he helps the team and when I play, I want to help the team as well. He has been a great help.“I’m playing better and I’m scoring goals, which is important for any striker.“I am playing for an amazing club and I need to keep scoring and to play well.”Gabriel also revealed he is no worse for wear after his collision with the post in the first-half, adding: “I’m good – I have a little pain at the back of my head and it’s obviously dangerous when you hit your head like that, but I’m good and feel fine.” About the authorPaul VegasShare the loveHave your say

The step into the first team is the easier one, now it’s about staying in it.”They all seemed very comfortable. It was a different game to a Premier League game, but they are confident lads. They have every grounding and base needed.”He also said, “The fact that we haven’t won at home in the league is something that we obviously we want to correct. If we want to be where we want to be we’re going to need home wins.”We must respect Brighton hugely because they’re playing very well, playing some really good football – new manager, change of style, maybe not the points on the board that they deserve. “So we can’t just because we haven’t had a home win expect it will come because we’re Chelsea and they’re Brighton – no we respect them and we’ll try and get our win.”

The LA Galaxy named Guillermo Barros Schelotto as the club’s new head coach on Wednesday, and the Argentine has promised to bring an attacking brand of soccer to the club. Schelotto takes over a club looking to rebound from missing the playoffs in each of the last two seasons, only the second time the club has failed to make the playoffs in back-to-back years. Despite that, the 45-year-old takes over a roster with plenty of attacking options. Zlatan Ibrahimovic scored 22 times in his first MLS season and is back for more, giving Schelotto and attacking centerpiece to go along with a midfield that currently includes three designated players, though the club will have to make adjustments in that department to comply with league rules. The club will also get the chance to build through the MLS draft and throughout the rest of the offseason, and Schelotto has high expectations heading into his first year in charge. “We want to be offensive, and we want to open the field,” he told the club’s website. “I have the biggest expectations about the players that we have—Zlatan Ibrahimovic, [Romain] Alessandrini, [Giovani and Jonathan] dos Santos. “We have good international players, and we have good American players as well. I think we can have a good year. I think that I have the best expectations for them. We can work together, and we can do something for Galaxy.” The former Boca Juniors boss also explained his decision to join up with the Galaxy, saying that he sees big things in the future for the club under the direction of recently hired general manager Dennis te Kloese. “I decide [to join] Galaxy because I know the league, I know what we are talking about. I think that the next step after Boca was outside the country and the Galaxy gave me the opportunity,” he said. “I’ve been talking with Galaxy general manager Dennis te Kloese and I think that we are aligned on the Galaxy’s future. I took this position because I am thinking about the future of not just me, but the Galaxy. I think it will be very important and I want to be a part.”
Xavi believes Bayern Munich’s Joshua Kimmich would be an ideal signing for Barcelona as the Germany international’s reputation continues to swell. The 23-year-old has been an ever-present for the Bavarian giants this season, making 26 appearances in all competitions.Despite playing most of his career at right-back, Kimmich – who was named among the Goal 50 – has been moved into a central midfield role of late. And that display of versatility makes him well-suited to moving to Camp Nou, according to the Spaniard.Speaking alongside Kimmich at a training camp in Doha, Xavi told Bild : “I spoke to Pep Guardiola, my ex-coach from Barcelona, about him.”Pep said: ‘I have a player in the team who can play in every position!’ “I asked, ‘Who is the boy?’ He told me something about a man named ‘Kimmitsch’, whom I honestly had never heard of before.”Since that day, when I talked to Pep, I have followed your career. After all, Pep says that for a reason. “I knew right away, when I saw you playing, that you could become a great player. And that’s you today! “Joshua is the present and future of FC Bayern and the German national team. And you really can play in any position.”Since Dani Alves left the club in 2016 , both Nelson Semedo and Sergi Roberto have failed to make the right-back position at Barcelona their own.Kimmich would solve Ernesto Valverde’s problems at the back but Xavi is conscious that Bayern play at a similar level. The Al Sadd midfielder and Qatar World Cup ambassador added: “You would be the perfect player for FC Barcelona! “In my career, I have always kept my eyes open to find players who would suit Barca well. “As previously with Philipp Lahm, Joshua Kimmich could without any problems play at Barcelona. That would fit well. “But Bayern Munich play on the same level as Barca, and you can achieve a lot there.”Across his 22-year career Xavi has won 31 major honours, including the World Cup and two European Championship titles with Spain. He developed a reputation as a metronomic passer in midfield and was the central pillar of Guardiola’s all-conquering Barcelona team between 2008 and 2012.But Xavi believes Kimmich’s flexibility means he could even eclipse him as a player.”I thought before I met Joshua that he wanted to be a defender,” he stated.”But he already told me that he has another big wish. Joshua can play perfectly in midfield as a number six. “Definitely [he can be the next Xavi]. He can make the difference. “He can be one of the best players in world football in several positions, maybe he already is. “That distinguishes him from me: I could play in one position, he is versatile.”

The war of words continues between Donald Trump and the U.S. women’s national team, with Ali Krieger having sent her support to Megan Rapinoe and joined her in saying she would not be visiting the White House. For those keeping count, that’s now three of the USA’s biggest female stars, with Alex Morgan having made her stance on the matter clear as well, who have publicly said they would not visit the President should they be invited. Trump, who has hit out at Rapinoe on multiple occasions, did so again via tweet on Wednesday, but offered an invitation to the entire team, win or lose, after the World Cup. Brazil full-back Dani Alves came to the defence of team-mate Neymar in the wake of growing criticism and reports of a potential Paris Saint-Germain exit.Neymar missed out on the Copa America due to an injury suffered in a pre-tournament friendly against Qatar, as Brazil went on to win the competition without him.Serving as hosts of the tournament, Brazil went on to beat rivals Argentina in the semi-finals, with Alves himself turning in a masterclass performance, before taking down Peru in the tournament finale. Ox-rated! Dream night in Genk for Liverpool ace after injury nightmare The win was Brazil’s first Copa America since 2007 and comes on the heels of a disappointing World Cup performance for Neymar and the side in Russia last summer. The PSG attacker has made headlines after he missed out on the start of the team’s pre-season, prompting the club to state that “appropriate measures” will be taken to discipline the Brazilian star.Neymar’s father says the absence was previously agreed upon as the winger attended to charitable commitments of which the club had been notified. However, PSG sporting director Leonardo said that the club are open to selling the former Barcelona star at the right price, while adding that Neymar’s former club had only held “superficial” talks with regards to re-signing him.And Alves was quick to come to the defence of his Brazil team-mate amid criticism that he is not a team player for either Brazil or PSG.”If a team has Messi, it must play for [Lionel] Messi, as it is with [Cristiano] Ronaldo. And Neymar is no different, he’s on another level and, the more the team dedicates itself to him, he’ll continue to give an answer on the pitch. I don’t think these kind of players do things that are not for the sake of the team,” Alves told SporTV’s ‘Bem Amigos’.”I realised this when I played with Messi: if he’s on my side, why should I do other than trying to get the ball to him? I know how decisive he can be, he must have the ball. And Neymar is that kind of player.”But sometimes I feel there’s this sensibility over Neymar that everything he does should be put under scrutiny. I disagree with a lot of the criticism about him because some of it targets his off-pitch doings and not his football, where he’s always provided results.”As a friend, my job is ensuring Neymar understands that he must find ways to realise his gift for football.”Alves has played with Neymar at both PSG and Barcelona, and has spent the past two seasons with his compatriot at the Parc des Princes. The full-back also went on to criticise former Barca team-mate Lionel Messi, saying that the Argentina star was disrespectful following comments alleging Copa America corruption.
