Traffic disruptions expected Wednesday and Saturday due to rally

first_imgThe Cyprus Rally CNP ASFALISTIKI Super Special Stage will take place on Saturday, June 17 in the roads in central Nicosia, closing or partially closing some roads in the centre of the capital.In addition, on Wednesday, June 14 the same roads will be closed or partially closed to the public from 3pm until 8pm as the rally crews will recce the stage.On Saturday, the special stage of the rally will be conducted twice the same day; at 11.27am and 4.59pm. This year’s stage has been shortened to avoid the closing of central avenues which in the past have caused traffic congestion and discomfort to the public, Rally organisers said.The stage’s epicentre will be the Markos Drakos roundabout next to Paphos Gate and the following roads will be temporarily closed.Closed RoadsRigenis street – from the junction with Arsinois Street all the way up to the Markos Drakos round about next to the Pafos GateEgyptou (Egypt) street – from the Lloyd George util the Markos Drakos round about by the Pafos GateMuseum street – from the junction with Nehru street until the Markos Drakos round about next to Pafos GateKinyras Street – from the junction at Pedieos bridge until the Markos Drakos round about next to the Pafos GateMarkos Drakos streetCharalmbos Mouskos street – up to the junction with Kinyras sreetKostis Palama street (one lane)One lane of Gregoris Afxentiou streetChilonos street – direction towards Museum street traffic lightsThe same roads will be affected on Wednesday.Members of the public wishing to watch the special stage are advised to come to the area earlier and to use all adjacent parking areas and to comply with directions of the police and the safety marshals.
